Can’t See Your Ad?

Quick Fix Tips

We get a number of calls each week from advertisers having trouble finding their newly created ads on Yahoo.com. More often than not, this can be chalked up to one minor issue or another. Here’s a list of some of the most common issues and how to fix them:

1. Your billing info may be incorrect
If you’ve just signed up with us, it’s possible that your ads are not showing because you haven’t given us all your billing information, or your billing information is incorrect. We won’t activate your account until we’ve got all the correct deets. It’s a good idea to go back and double check.

2. There may be editorial issues
Your ad may be in the queue awaiting review, or it may have editorial issues. Your ads, like everyone’s, need to comply with our editorial guidelines. To check your ad’s editorial status, log in to your account, go to the Campaigns tab and click “Editorial Status.” There, you’ll be able to see any pending issues.

3. Your ad may not be on the first page
Your ad’s ranking may not high enough for it to be displayed on the first page of search results. But it may appear on a subsequent search results page. Click the “Next” link at the bottom of the search results page and check to see if your ad appears on subsequent pages.

If you want your ad to be displayed higher in Sponsored Search results, work to improve your ad’s quality, increase your bid, or do a little of both. You can monitor your ads’ performance on the Ad Group Details page. To find out more about ad quality and how to improve it, see our previous posts, here and here, and consult the Help Center.

4. You may have reached your campaign Daily Spending Limit
When you set up a campaign, you set a Daily Spending Limit for it. If your Daily Spending Limit is too low, it may slow or stop your ads from being displayed for that day. In this case, consider changing your daily spending limit to meet the recommended amount.

To view your campaign Daily Spending Limit, go to the specific campaign under the Campaigns tab. Your Daily Spending Limit appears in the “Campaign Performance” box. To view the recommended Daily Spending Limit, click the “Change” button and hit “Display Estimates.” The page will refresh and the recommended Daily Spending Limit estimate will appear in the “Set Campaign and Schedule” box. You can change your limit from there.

Note that you can change your Daily Spending Limit at any time: You can increase it during times that you think may garner the most traffic, and decrease it at times when you think you might have less traffic.

For more on these and other ad display issues, take a look at our FAQs. And don’t hesitate to call our Customer Solutions team at: (866) YAHOO-SM (866-924-6676) if you encounter any persistent issues.

It’s better to pre-pay your campaign and you will never have surprises!
When I use Yahoo Search Marketing I always pre pay my campaign and so when it goes live, I know that stays there.

I don’t see my ad because I turned it off!

    RE: Case #156485848

After 40+ years of experience, the telephone books do not allow gimmick advertisers to advertise in this way. There must be a good reason for that!

    Hi,

I have been having problems with the editorial review process. Some of my ads are declined the reason they give are simply incorrect, e.g. “you dont appear to own this domain”, which is incorrect. Who is the best person to contact about editorial issues?

    thanks,

    sean.

Thanks for stating the obvious Yahoo. Next time write something of value before sending me an email and taking up my time to read this painfully 101 advice.

Our webpage is not coming up in the top 125 that I could see. What can we do to gain ranking credibility?

  • 8. Bosco  |  November 28th, 2007 at 1:28 pm

Or, geo-targeting might not be turned on for the area where you are checking it from.

Same as Bo – my webpage is not coming up in the top 125 or more! How do I gain ranking?????

When I first started my campaign, my ad was on the first page for the adwords Song License. Now it is not on the first page and there are places for several ads on the first page. In fact, my clicks seem to have frozen. What is happending?

Those are some great points there. I’ve really benefited a lot from search advertising! I’ve seen traffic on our site (Ladybug Wireworks) skyrocket.

HOW DO I GET IN FRONT OF MY COMPETITORS FOR THE THE SPOT? I AM WAY TO FAR DOWN ON THE LIST

  • 13. Abe Turner  |  November 28th, 2007 at 3:07 pm

I agree with #6, this was all common sense!

Thanks, Yahoo. Sometimes we overlook the obvious because we assume too much. The first step in every technical troubleshooting list is “Check the power cord.” Some of the comments are good, too.

Thanks, Yahoo for sending quality traffic. We have used several search marketing PPC services, but none can compare to the conversion rates that come from Yahoo Search Marketing.

I was going to go with yahoo but realized that a company that sells not a kit but a book was being put in front of mine when you punched homeselling kit in search because of what he put in his search criterias.. I don’t think thats fair because his website is not names homesellerskit and he does not sell a kit he sells a book !!! We sell the kit plus our name is homesellerskit his is sellerskit and when you ask for a homeselling kit his site shows up and not ours ..When I asked yahoo to help they refered me to legal and you all know how long that process would take .. so I am now researching other sites that treat us more fairly !!..

Some of these comments are great! My advice is to pre-pay for all of your ads so that you’re not blind-sided by a huge unexpected bill. Monitor your competition closely and bid slightly under them. I have found that being in 3rd or 4th position generates just as many hits as 1st and 2nd position and saves you a ton of cash. Another tip is to go to http://www.overture.com (which is Yahoo’s search ad company) and research what others are bidding for the same keywords that you’re paying for. This will give you a good starting point. Feel free to visit my site to contact me for more info. Good luck :) http://www.needlesupply.com

    aftermarket cruise control kits
is what I put in the Yahoo search bar on the Yahoo home page.
    My ad does not appear.

I checked my ranking and it states I am 1.3
I would assume that means I’d be at least #2 in the ads. Yet I AM NOT listed AT ALL.

I did double check that I have “aftermarket cruise control kits” as a search term in my AD Group. I have it but its Not plural (kit instead of Kits) So I add it pluralized and it won’t allow me because I already have it unpluralized.
Soo is there a fix for ths? I looked back 4 pages and none of the advertizers changed.

Bring back local search marketing. Stop selling out to the big corporate accounts. I have really struggled with all of the changes you have made over the last two years with local search. Yahoo was really the bread and butter of my business but I am seeing less and less traffic being generated while cost are rising to do any type of PPC. Give us small business the local marketing tools we need to stay around or all your going to have left is wallmart and mcdonalds to do business with.

Thanks for the tips. I can use them all. I have been at this for almost 4 years. I’m far from good at this internet game, but I continue to perfect my site and my traffic. Check me out here for girly gifts. http://www.shopcitygirl.com – Free stocking stuffers too!

I don’t know if you really can make money at this. I even hired people to rank my position high in the search engines and the only way I find my site is when I type it in word for word. I have been doing this for only a year and a 1/2 and have not even started to make back any of the money that I have invested!!!
