Third-Party Tools Update

Some advertisers may experience changes

The changes we’re currently undergoing affect everyone, including those third-party providers who have built tools around our search advertising services. If you use these “API” services, you may notice changes in the way that they perform.

Rest assured, we have worked very closely with our tool providers to get things ironed out in connection with the introduction of our new search advertising platform. We’ve built a team of dedicated technical account managers, as well as a special customer solutions group, whose focus is to support migration for third-party providers. In fact, working very closely with our partners, we have been able to successfully migrate more than 95 percent of our top-tier partners onto Panama by the readiness due date.

That said, it remains the tool provider’s responsibility to ensure that its applications are operable with the new search advertising platform, and also to communicate any issues or delays to its clients directly. If you experience any issues with your tool provider, be sure to let them know. We pledge to work with them to help resolve the issue.

I have been unable to get any help or support with API changes for Yahoo New Search advertising platform. All the tools we used to interface with Paid Search results no longer function, and you cannot even schedule a report to be sent so you could at least process the data that way.

Mike, An integral part of our new platform upgrade strategy has been to work closely with our tool providers and other third-party partners.

Since April 2006, we have been in frequent and regular email contact with our partners to help them successfully migrate to the new system. These efforts have included:

    • A web-based Technology Solutions portal that we launched on May 8, 2006
    • An exclusive test environment (the “sandbox”), introduced in June 2006, that allows API partners to test their applications in the new platform
    • Beginning in October 2006, a series of emails and phone calls to provide status updates and offer additional help, as needed

Additionally, we’ve created dedicated Technical Account Manager positions and a Customer Solutions group, focused solely on supporting our partners’ migration to the New Sponsored Search.

We’re pleased to report that we successfully migrated more than 95% of our top-tier third-party partners by December 11, 2006, which met the goals in our plan.

Remember, ultimately it is the responsibility of individual tool providers to ensure that their applications work with our new platform, and to communicate any issues or delays to their clients directly. If you’re finding that some part of their application is not working correctly, we recommend that you contact your tool provider directly.

    -M2 & Jeff
